The challenge
How do prevailing assumptions in entrepreneurship research shape what constitutes as opportunity? How are concepts such as scalability, growth, and technological novelty embedded in gendered and institutionalized logics that in turn shape which entrepreneurial activities are recognized, resourced, and ultimately deemed successful?
What we will do
This interactive professional development workshop encourages participants to challenge traditional understandings of entrepreneurship by engaging with emerging research on how entrepreneurial processes are deeply shaped by embodied identities, care practices, and intersecting inequalities. Using examples from gendered health, care, and other underexplored innovation domains, participants will work collaboratively to examine how entrepreneurial opportunities are constructed, evaluated, legitimated, scaled, and sometimes overlooked.
What participants will gain
Participants will leave with new conceptual frameworks, research questions, and practical insights into how bodies, care, capital, institutions, and technology interact in shaping entrepreneurial opportunities and outcomes.
